A delegation from JICA led by Chief Representative Mr. Ichiguchi Tomohide, along with Senior Representative Ms. Shoji Izumi and Senior Program Officer Mr. Md. Mahedi Hasan and BIFFL team was headed by Project Director and CEO Mr. S. M. Anisuzzaman, accompanied by EVP & Head of C&ID Mr. Md. Tanvir Warsi and other officials visited BIFFL funded Seed Storage Facility of Shetu Pesticides Ltd. (SPL) in Trishal, Mymensingh on 30 November 2025 to assess the impact of concessional financing in the seed processing sector under the Food Value Chain Improvement Project (FVCIP).
BIFFL has provided BDT 126.20 crore to establish a modern seed processing and storage facility with a capacity of 900 MT. The delegation noted significant operational improvements, including a reduction in processing losses to 0.3%.
The project is contributing to national seed demand, reducing import dependence, and generating employment, with strong female participation at both factory and farm levels. SPL’s high-yield hybrid seeds also supporting national food security, backed by advanced quality control and automated systems.
The visit highlighted the positive role of FVCIP in strengthening Bangladesh’s agricultural value chain and promoting inclusive growth.
